Daniil Fishteyn, CTO of WebApps Inc., discusses multi-tenancy in his recent white paper produced for the SIIA OnDemand Conference 2008. Fishteyn makes the observation that since few standards have been established for multi-tenant application elivery or operational goverance, the suitability of SaaS in support of mission critical business activities needs to be explored.

I will be participating on a panel at the SIIA OnDemand Conference in San Jose, CA, next week (11/18/2008). The panel is SaaS Integration: the Whole is More than the Sum of the Parts. Leading SaaS industry analysts have identified application integration as the number one challenge facing SaaS venders. Integration can save development resources, expand markets and win over corporate IT departments. It’s time for SaaS applications to leave their silos. Our panel will feature presentations from three SaaS companies who have addressed respectively; SaaS to SaaS integration; SaaS to Cloud integration; and SaaS to On-Premise integration. Following these presentations there will be a discussion which will illuminate lessons learned and best practices identified. It should be fun.

I have been appointed to Council Chair for the SIIA Research and Development Executive Council. This is a group of software industry executives wanting to share best practices, network with peers, and provide thought leadership for events such as webinars, conferences, and roundtable discussions. The Research and Development Council usually consists of CTOs, VPs of Engineering, VPs R&D, and from larger companies, heads of product development. The council is concerned with issues and trends that are affecting most software company’s research and development strategies including; coding standards, quality assurance, regression testing, product management, offshore development, localization, etc.
